About Emma Charlin…
Living in France
I grew up under the sunny skies of Nice (on the French Riviera) before settling in Paris. For more than 15 years, I thrived in international companies, working in human resources and finance, mainly in the stock market sector. It was an intense and enriching journey, but even then I had a growing desire for adventure…
Moving to Canada
A dream opportunity came by: my husband was offered a job transfer to Canada. In less than four months, we pulled off a whirlwind move - immigration paperwork, resignation, selling our apartment… and off we went to Hamilton, nestled between Toronto and Niagara Falls. And that was just the beginning!
My Immigration Journey
I arrived in Canada as a temporary resident. Two years later, my family and I became permanent residents. Less than seven years after landing, we were proudly holding our Canadian passports.
My Kids and Their New Life in Ontario
When we arrived, my children were 7, 5 and 2 years old…and they didn’t speak a word of English! Today? They switch effortlessly between French and English, blending their Canadian and French cultures with ease. Proof that successful integration is possible - even for the little ones!
My new life in Ontario
At first, my focus was on my family. Then I felt the urge to take on a new challenge - entrepreneurship!
In just a few years, I have
- Created “Bienvenue au Canada”, a go-to website for expats.
- Written six practical guides on settling in Canada (five in French, one in English).
- Launched a podcast dedicated to moving to and living in Canada: Bienvenue au Canada/Welcome to Canada.
- Helped dozens of expats navigate their departure and integration into Canada.
My greatest prides
My clients’ successes!
Many aspiring expats come to me feeling lost and overwhelmed. They hesitate between provinces, don’t know where to start, and overstress about their budget.
But as we work together, things start to make sense. They have a clear action plan to follow, well-defined priorities to tackle… and most importantly, their dream come true! Seeing them succeed is my greatest satisfaction!
My books
I’ve always dreamed of writing books. Today, that dream has become a reality! My book Costs of Moving to Canada breaks down everything you need to know about expenses (before and after your move), with practical tips to optimize your budget.
